Advertising services at WHBC

If you are putting on an event fo r the benefit of all our part of WHBC you are entitled to advertising supplied by the media support team at WHBC.

There are a number of different advertising mediums available to all projects and events within the church that you can utilise as well as other advertising mediums available outside the church.

The media support team can produce advertising material or on some cases adapt existing material for use in current advertising projects. If you want to provide you own artwork, it will have to be approved by the media support team before it is displayed in church tu ensure it meets our communication guidelines (the media support team may request minor alterations before the material is displayed).

Letting the media support team know about your events

If the media support team does not know about your event they will not be able to advertise it, it is your responsibility to contact the team if you wish them to provide advertising for your event.
Similarly, if the media support team does not have enough information to precede, it is not the media support team’s  job to chase you for the information, but to use the information you supply to advertise your events. They may ask you for further information they consider necessary to effectively advertise you event, but it is your responsibility to provide it.

The media support team are putting together an area on the website that you can use to generate requests for advertising. To start with you can request inclusion on the online calendar. For now if you want an event advertised please email [email protected]

Timeframe

It is best to give the media support team as much notice as possible before your event, the minimum time is 6 weeks before you want to start advertising your event. If less time is given the media support team will endeavour to provide you with as much design support as possible, but due to other commitments, you might not receive a full service.
For most church events we have the following schedule:

We will follow this schedule when determining what events to advertise to WHBC, although you are free to start your own external advertising for an event ahead of these times.

I Am News Sheet

  • updated monthly
  • events for or by WHBC will be given priority over external events
  • the larger the event’s audience with in WHBC, the higher priority it will be given
  • priority given to events happening / deadlines passing within the next month
  • limited space, normally only dates for events, not used to convey information
  • events happening more than 6 months in the future will not normally be advertised

Toilet posters

In the Sanctuary

  • updated every Sunday morning
  • events for or by WHBC will be given priority over external events
  • the larger the event’s audience with in WHBC, the higher priority it will be given
  • priority given to events happening within the next 7 days / deadlines passing in the next 10 days
  • second priority given to events happening / deadlines passing within the next month
  • if an external event is happening during the week we wil advertise our next big conference / event
  • when a group has multiple upcoming events (e.g. I Am Woman) future events for the next 6 months will be combined into one graphic to allow people to plan ahead
  • events happening more than 6 months in the future will not normally be advertised

If you are hosting an event you may request different content on the posters, for the duration of the event only

I Am News Video

Played at all Sunday services and available on whbcmanchester.com and Youtube

  • updated every Sunday morning
  • no longer than 3min
  • events for or by WHBC will be given priority over external events
  • the larger the event’s audience with in WHBC, the higher priority it will be given
  • priority given to events happening within the next 7 days / deadlines passing in the next 10 days
  • second priority given to events happening / deadlines passing within the next month
  • when a group has multiple upcoming events (e.g. I Am Woman) future events will not be advertised until the current event has passed
  • where possible two of 15sec, 30sec and 1min versions will be generated and different versions used in the lead up to an event
  • 1min versions only used for events that will appeal to the whole church
  • at the beginning and end of I Am News, the presenters will normally highlight an event or success from the previous week or one event happening during the following week.
  • Priority will be given in the following order
    • events that WHBC leadership have requested to be highlighted
    • events that have compulsory attendance (e.g. Leadership meetings)
    • events that have had lower than desired attendance in the past

Leaflets

On the Info Table in the Sanctuary and Glenn House Reception

  • events for or by WHBC will be given priority over external events
  • if you want leaflets printing it is your responsibility to cover the cost of printing, this includes prints and photocopies made internally. WHBC will cover the printing costs for some events, you will need to discuss this with WHBC leadership in advance.

Website

All ministries within WHBC can have there own collection of pages on the website that can be accessed using whbcmanchester.com/ministry-name (e.g. whbcmanchester.com/gokids). it is possible to have subpages under this page to add more content. except in special circumstances, ministries should have there pages exclusively on whbcmanchester.com and not other websites, this does not include face book or twitter accounts, pages or groups.
You can be given acces to edit your own pages within the website, you will not gain acces to any other pages on the church website.

in addition to ministry pages individual events can have pages advertising them, request inclusion on the online calendar. If you are having advance bookings for you event you must provide online booking for your event, and therefore an event page is essential. Event’s will be listed at the bottom of each ministries pages in the “Upcoming Events” section for all ministries and departments that are relevant as well as appearing in the websites online calendar pages.

  • mostly for events happening within the next 7 days / deadlines passing in the next 10 days
  • occasionally used for conveying time critical updates / last minute changes

Additional information

Although not necessary it would be nice to provide additional information about events advertised so that the people who attend the info table and Glenn House Reception can provide more information about anything advertised across any medium utilised within the church. just providing a website address that requires people look up the information will not normally be considered useful and will probably not be looked at, a short email with a  clear overview of the event / service and the organisers along with contact information for follow up is greatly appreciated.
