As a church, we are following daily reading plans and confessing biblical truths over our lives. As we follow one of our core values to ‘Keep The Focus’ on The Bible (our handbook for life), we will grow our faith, strengthen our spirit, and see God work in our everyday lives.

Please choose your own plan(s) to follow this year, below you will find some plans that other members of WHBC have found useful.

What others have said

  • As a couple we have chosen to read a plan together.  We read at separate times and sometimes discuss what we have been reading.  Having someone who is also reading the plan is a great way to stay motivated to read daily.  We tend to read the scriptures first and then come back to the commentary at the end.  This gives us an opportunity to observe what God is saying to us first.

  • I really enjoyed reading through the Bible chronologically, it brought everything together, for example which prophet went with which king; what was going on when the New Testament letters were written.  You also get a more rounded picture of things as they happened, so you get the historical story and the same story from the perspective of the priests at the same time (eg Kings and Chronicles).

Every day, take multiple opportunities to confess these truths as you go about your daily business.

You could:

  • Take one confession each day and use it to start off your time with God.
  • Use all confessions every day, but look at one in depth each day
  • Study all 5 confessions one evening and confess the most appropriate one at a given moment throughout the week.

Reading God's Story: One-Year Chronological Plan

(1 year) Created by Dr. George Guthrie, this plan takes the material of the Bible and organizes it to flow in chronological order. Since exact dating of some materials or events is not possible, the chronology simply represents an attempt to give you the reader the general flow and development of the Bible’s grand story. Some passages are placed according to topic (e.g., John 1:1-3 in Week 1, Day 2; and many of the psalms). There are six readings for each week to give you space for catching up when needed.

Bible In One Year 2017

(1 year) Start your day with the Bible in One Year, a free Bible reading app with commentary by Nicky and Pippa Gumbel. Nicky Gumbel is the Vicar of HTB in London and pioneer of Alpha. 'My favourite way to start the day.' – Bear Grylls, Adventurer
