In 2012 as part of the 15 year celebrations of the church, the senior pastors laid out a vision for the next 15 years. One key part of this was around missions and the goal was set to see every person, of any age, within WHBC have the opportunity to go on a short term mission trip. This is clearly an ambitious aim but shows that leadership is fully behind missions and creating a culture where this is to be expected.
Short term missions can come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, not just in terms of length and location but also in the type of activities that are carried out during the trip itself. From practically painting someone’s home to help them with their main source of income, to running children’s activities, to handing out tracts and gospels, to running crusades the opportunities and variety are endless. Behind all of this though is the desire to share Jesus with people and communicate the hope He brings.
Every year we aim to have several trips planned and we also already have several church members who are involved in short term missions themselves directly that we recognise. Basically you don’t have to wait for an official trip from WHBC to go out yourself but please do speak to one of the leaders when planning a trip for your own covering.
In recent years we have had several trips to Albania, Philippines, Bulgaria, Turkey, the USA amongst others and whilst many will be oversees there are also trips planned to other parts of the UK as well. Our children and youth groups are also fully active in running their own trips and you can find out more about these by clicking here.
If you want to get involved sign up below and we’ll email you details of upcoming trips. If you just want to be emailed with prayer points when others our out on trips you can use this form too.[wysija_form id=”8″]
